Tire Wear & Replacement Guide – 8.5x2" Scooter Tires

Tires wear out—it's part of riding. Here's what you need to know:

📏 Tire Lifespan

• Expect 400–600 miles of use on pavement tread.
  
  More aggressive tread patterns will reduce mileage.
  
• Typically last 200–400 miles.
  
  They usually need yearly replacement, but you'll never get a flat—which is a big plus.
  

🔧 Common Tube Failures

Most tube replacements we do aren’t from tire wear, but from tube punctures—and the #1 cause is low tire pressure.

Check your tire pressure weekly—it’ll save you from unnecessary flats and replacements.

🛠️ Service Time Estimates

• Average time: 30 minutes (labor only)
  
  This estimate is for wheels brought in separately. If we need to remove and reinstall the wheel from the scooter, additional time will apply.
  
• Adds 15 minutes per tire
  
  These require boiling in water and installing while VERY HOT—special handling is needed.

Tire and tube replacement on scooters equipped with hub motors can vary significantly depending on the scooter model and motor design.

• 45 to 90 minutes per tire (when the wheel is brought in separately)
  
• Some designs are more complex and require additional time to access and service.
  
• If the entire scooter is brought in and wheel removal/reinstallation is required, extra labor charges will apply based on complexity.
  

As you ride, brake pads naturally wear down with use. As the pads thin, the brake lever must travel farther before engaging the brake disc, reducing braking responsiveness.

To properly adjust for pad wear:

• The caliper must be removed
• Pads are then reset or advanced inward
• The caliper is reinstalled and precisely shimmed to ensure correct
  alignment between the brake disc and the pad surfaces

This is a standard maintenance procedure to restore braking efficiency and safety.

Estimated Labor Time:
-30 minutes for a single caliper
-45 minutes for both front and rear calipers
